Ethiopia
Dr Samuel Gebreselassie
A Researcher in Agricultural and Rural Development and Environmental
Economics at the Ethiopian Economic Policy Research Institute (EEPRI).
He has a PhD in Agricultural Economics from the University of Bonn. His
papers include 'Poverty and Food Security in Ethiopia' and 'Recent Experiences
of Land Rental Markets in Ethiopia'. He has worked with the World Bank
on a study of land tenure and agricultural development in Ethiopia.
Dr Amdissa Teshome
A graduate in Economics from Addis Ababa Universty, with a MSc in
Agricultural Economics from Wye College and a PhD from University of London.
He has written several journal articles, guidelines and manuals on rural
development. He currently runs 'A-Z Consult' a consultancy firm in Addis Ababa and works
on disaster management, food security, education and health issues and
participatory approaches to rural and urban development.
UN-OCHA Pastoralist Communication Initiative (UNOCHA-PCI)
PCI are our institutional collaborator on pastoralist and agro-pastoralist
issues and have been active in the Afar, Borana and Somali areas of Ethiopia
for several years.
Kenya
Dr Rosemary Atieno
Rosemary Atieno is currently a senior research fellow in Development
Economics at the Institute for Development Studies, University of Nairobi.
She holds B.A., M.A.(Economics) from the University of Nairobi, and PhD
in Agricultural Economics from the University of Giessen.
Dr. John Omiti
John Omiti holds a PhD in agricultural economics from the University of New England. He is a Senior Policy Analyst and Head of Productive Sector Division at the
Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA). He has been involved in agricultural economics and policy research in a number of countries including Ethiopia, Uganda and Kenya. He has a keen interest in the analysis of policy issues affecting economic performance, food security, poverty alleviation and institutional development at macro and sectoral levels.

Gem Argwings-Kodhek
Gem Argwings-Kodhek holds a Masters Degree in Agricultural Economics and has been working in agricultural policy analysis for the last 11 years. He is a Senior Research Fellow at Tegemeo Institute of Agricultural Policy and Development, Egerton University, and has been involved in several long-term projects in association with his alma mater - The University of Arizona, Stanford University and Michigan State . He has spoken and published widely on the full range of agricultural policy and poverty issues in Kenya.
Malawi
Dr. Ephraim W. Chirwa
An Associate Professor of Economics at Chancellor College, University of Malawi, with
an MPhil from Cambridge University and PhD from the University of East
Anglia. His areas of research include organisation and performance of
markets, farming systems and performance, poverty and food security analysis,
technology adoption and the agrarian question, social safety nets, microfinance
and rural financial institutions.
Dr. Blessings Chinsinga
A Senior Lecturer teaching Development Administration, Public Policy Analysis and Institutions and Development at the Department of Political and Administrative Studies, Chancellor College, University of Malawi. He holds a PhD in Development Studies from the University of Mainz. His areas of competence include agricultural production and HIV/ADS, and rural development.
