The Future Agricultures Consortium together with ODI organised a seminar series entitled 'Future Agricultures: from broad themes to practical policy' during the Autumn of 2007.
This series of meetings presented the results of Future Agricultures Consortium work in Ethiopia, Kenya and Malawi. Other topics discussed included the 2008 World Development Report on Agriculture, as well as broader issues around biofuels, climate change and the rapid development of China and India.

The Future Agricultures consortium convened six meetings to discuss key issues in agricultural policy for pro-poor growth. The meetings are taking place at ODI's offices in London and began on Friday 28 October with 'Effective Rural Institutions: The Missing Link in Market-based Agricultural Development?', speaker: Jonathan Kydd from Imperial College. The future of African agriculture is once again on the development agenda. But why is African agriculture (largely) stagnating and what can be done about it? A seminar at IDS on 9 November 2005 presented some of the papers from the IDS Bulletin on 'New Directions for African Agriculture' which was published in June and features articles from many of the Future Agricultures partners.
